Alieu Kamara, a JSS 1 teacher at the Government Technical Secondary School Congo Cross in Freetown was alleged to have been mercilessly beaten up by his pupils of the school resulting to serious injuries which may render him incapacitated.
The teacher struggled to reach the Awoko Newspaper office with an envelope of his XRAY test; as he painfully lingered with bandages on his right arm, narrating his ordeal in the hands of pupils he is reportedly teaching.
Teacher Kamara lamented that the unruly behavior of pupils in the school was manifested recently when unscrupulous pupils stormed the school compound this Monday to collect their BECE results; and some of them started using abusive languages on him and other teachers.
He also lamented that, the pupils had wanted to disrupt normal classes when he came out side to address them. Some irate pupils stated to push, slap and pelt him with stones which resulted to serious scuffle that landed him on the ground with a broken wrist.
“They beat me up disgracefully in front of teachers, on lookers and pupils of the school which caused me serious embarrassment and frustration” he complained.
He also cited an incident that resulted to some pupils stealing his note books, syllabus and other teaching materials. What disgusted him most was that some of the pupils who stole his reading materials boastfully admitted doing the wrongful act.
He told this press that the School Administration has promised to provide him with funds to foot his medical bills; whilst some of the pupils are being arrested and detained at the Congo Cross Police Station for investigations.
“ I want the school management to stop issuing BECE results until investigations are completed and decisively deal with the culprits to avoid the future re occurrence of the ugly incident that had befallen me” he lamented. By Saidu Bah
