The Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU) is currently undertaking management and functional review of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and in the process holding consultations with Agencies for which the Ministry has oversight responsibility.
During a meeting with senior management staff of the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA), they were informed about the overall goal of the PSRU which was to achieve a public service that works for the benefit of the people of Sierra Leone.
Senior Management Analyst, Mr. Ola Williams, who led the PSRU review team informed the management of SLRTA about the essence of the reform which he noted is geared towards aligning the structures and management of the agency, consistent with the mission and vision of the Authority and the overall national agenda.
He suggested actions to achieve the overall goal which included the alignment of structures, systems and processes with the government’s development agenda. With regards enhancing transparency and accountability, he said that open and verifiable systems and processes must be put in place emphasizing a result based system to evaluate progress in meeting stated objectives.
Mr. Williams spoke about the need for training and manpower planning so as to address the skills gap in the establishment as well as having a proper records management system.
Acting Executive Director, A.K. Yansaneh, spoke of plans to secure a tow truck to facilitate the removal of derelict vehicles in the city.
