The official handing over of the site for the construction of a transport terminal and shopping mall in Kenema city by NASSIT and Kenema City Council partnership has taken place at the bus park in Kenema.
The chairman of the occasion, Dr Sandi Bockarie who is the principal of the Eastern Polytechnic in Kenema, said the occasion was historic as the construction of such an edifice would not only transform Kenema city but would give pride to the Nongowa people. He disclosed that the construction would be completed in a year’s time.
The Resident Minister East, Sahr Randoff Fillie Faboe, catalogued some of the development structures that had given Kenema city a face lift in recent times.
In his long list of catalogue were the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, the Magistrate and High Court building, the NASSIT Regional office and now the Transport Terminal and Shopping Mall.
He called on the people to take great care and protect these structures.
The chairman board of directors of Kambui Property Holdings Limited, Moluku Sulaiman Tarawally, gave a brief background on NASSIT and thanked President Tejan Kabbah for the establishment of NASSIT.
He disclosed that 4.5 billion Leones would be used to construct the terminal and that 80% of the fund would come from NASSIT while 20% from the Kenema City Council.
