The Country representative of Project FAME in Sierra Leone Jamal Conteh has disclosed to the media plans for the upcoming audition of underground artists in the country. He said the organization will conduct an audition to search for local talents who have not had the opportunity to produce an album. This is the third time such an opportunity is being given to grass root artists in the country as two Sierra Leoneans namely Anice Halloway and Brandy who participated in the audition organised in 2008 and 2009 respectively had the opportunity to participate in the Project FAME West Africa audition held in Nigeria.
He further disclosed that this year’s audition will be held on the 29th May, 2010 at the Miatta conference hall in Freetown and two qualifiers will be selected to participate in the Project FAME West African audition that will be held in Nigeria between 12th July and 28th September 2010.The audition which aims at exposing the talents of grass root artists is mainly sponsored by MTN.
The country representative encouraged every grass root artist to participate in this audition as it will go a long way in developing the individual’s interest in music and also help to change the lives of those that will be lucky to qualify.
