The principal of the Port Loko Teachers’ College (PLTC), I.W.S. Bangura, has expressed concern over the strike action by senior lecturers and urged students to brace themselves up for extra work on their own.
Speaking to our correspondent, the principal said, “it is only hard work and self determination that can now salvage the situation”.He emphasized that several futile attempts had been made to make the lecturers resume work, and that he was quite worried that it would adversely affect the final year students in particular.
The Secretary General, J.A.L. Songo, told this medium that the strike action would continue until their demands were addressed.
Both institutions, the PLCC and the Freetown Teachers’ College (FTC), embarked on a sit down strike since the beginning of this term as the ministry of education, science and technology had failed to address the issue of an increase in salary and allowances since 2005.
