Prince Sualley, the National Olympics Committee (NOC) Treasurer who happens to be the COVID Liaison Officer (CLO), said this year’s games is going to be very different from the others because of the COVID, a reason he said IOC have decided to let there be a special COVID Liaison Officer to coordinate all affairs relating to COVID19.
He said his primary focus will be to let all the delegation members adhere to the COVID rules in Sierra Leone and in Japan adding that he will also make sure that the delegation goes by the safety prevention of the COVID19 of which they will take the vaccines with each and every individual been tested before departure. They will engage all members and deliberate on the COVID rules when the final list is out.
Speaking on the specific time line of the games, the Chef De Mission of Sierra Leone, Unisa Deen Kargbo said CLO will register all those that are intending to go the games one month before departure of the first delegation which will be the Chef De Mission who will departs on the 15th July 2021 and that the deadline for the CLO to register all athletes and officials will be on the 12th June 2021.
He said Japan 2020 is not forcing anyone on taking vaccination but, the Japan government will not allow anyone that has not taken the vaccination to cross their airport. This he said also includes other Airports where they will be transiting. In this case he said everyone that is planning to go to the games must be vaccinated before the 12th JULY 2021.
