President Koroma Rescues Fire Victims

President Ernest Bai Koroma has given food and non food items worth millions of Leones to victims of the recent fire disaster which happened on 13th February in Kawunkula village in Kalasongoyai chiefdom Tonkolili district.
After our last publication on the fire disaster which took place in this Village and left 140 houses burnt and over three thousand (3,000) inhabitants who are mainly farmers homeless, some 535 bundles of zinc, 100 bags of rice, 400 bags of cements, 70 bags onions, 20 bags of salt, 50 rubbers of cooking oil, 20 bail used clothes, 50 cartoons tomatoes and cash of 52 million five hundred thousand Leones has been donated to the victims.
Giving the items and money to beneficiaries at a meeting in Bumbuna town on behalf of the President, the Minister of Mines Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray extended his sympathy to the victims and their relatives over the loss of their properties and homes during the past weeks.
Minister Mainkailu Mansaray said when the news reached President he was shocked especially when the entire village was burnt down by uncontrolled wild bush fire engulfing 140 houses. Mr. Mansaray said, “President Koroma wants every Sierra Leonean to know that he is not President for APC or rather the North but he is President for all. So when the information got to him he was disappointed over the ugly incident,” he stated.
The resident Minister North Alie D. Kamara thanked the people for their patience and the courage they have so far demonstrated after the ugly scene. He assured victims and all present of government’s total and continual support to them noting that all citizens have equal rights and opportunity to government.
The Minister of Mines said President Koroma is willing and ready to do more for victims and their relatives but disclosed that, presently Ernest Koroma is not in the country but upon his return he will visit them.
Addressing concerns over their registration slips, Minister Mainkailu Mansaray assured thatPpresident have informed NEC officials on their situation and asked them to write down their names for onward delivery to NEC for their voting Identity.
“You situation is serious and terrible after all your wealth and houses have burnt down, there is every need for NEC to consider either re-registering you, or giving you your voting ID after verification,” he assured.
Organizing Secretary for All Peoples Congress (APC) party, Alhaji M.S. Kargbo informed of the proactive measures being undertaken by his party during the incident noting that he was in the scene when all happened. “I was here on a mission when the fire broke out so I wasted no time in informing the resident minister who later came with ONS, the media and NaCSA to demonstrate our commitment in serving our constituents,” he boasted.
The All People Congress women’s wing also donated 1 million Leones and 1 bundle of wax cotton while NaCSA gave 67 bags of rice, 67 containers of cooking oil and 27 bags of beans.
Praises, prayers for President Ernest Bai Koroma by fire victims and their relatives among others climaxed the visit.
