President Koroma on Friday said at the Bo Coronation Field that Sierra Leoneans must embrace themselves to face increment in the prices of domestic goods.
This was said at a well attended congregation of members from all political parties within the nation who gathered at the Coronation Field to receive 10 sons of the soil who have been made Ministers in the All Peoples Congress government.
He went on “I reiterate, prices of domestic goods are going to soar soon”.
This he said was due to his own policy of administration which he said was dependence on ourselves and not on foreign things or foreigners.
The country he said used to feed itself over the years and even used to export goods but that all of that have turned within an era, but he said, he was here to give a u-turn.
He said that Sierra Leoneans must stop playing politics about our challenges as they are many and need to be faced all at once. He said that this was no time for him to mince words. But this challenge he said was not to be faced by one person alone or by a single party but by all Sierra Leoneans. “Our challenges could be overcome by all with initiatives, determination and commitment”, President Koroma said. A lot of challenges he said lie in the Agriculture, Education, Health and other sectors. On the issue of Agriculture, he said it was most pressing and that if ever we have to count ourselves successful in anything then that has to be agriculture as that is the backbone of our economy. This challenge he went on to say his government is facing right now so that in “Three years Sierra Leone will not have to import rice again.”
He maintained that this is why as President he was here to “make a difference…to restore dignity to the politics of this nation.” Politicians he said used to engage in “too much talking, too many plans and workshops” but that this was the time to stop that and get to action. Other people he said have fallen victims to the above situation but that he does not want to fall a victim. Coming to the purpose of the gathering which was the presentation of the Ministers to their people he said that he has included them in his government upon hearing the cries of the people that they are excluded in his government. He stated to the people that “I do not believe in divide and rule” He therefore appealed to the people to give them all the necessary home support so that they will succeed in their various
