The Ecobank Managing Director Mrs. Lucretia Aina Wright- Moore was one of the 88 recipients on Tuesday to be awarded by President Maada Bio, as she received the award of Grand Officer of the Order of The Rokel.
According to the citation, she got the award for her contribution in the field of banking in Sierra Leone and beyond.
Expressing her gratitude, the MD who happens to be one of two heads of banking institution in Sierra Leone said she was very grateful to have been awarded such a prestigious award from the President because of her contribution in the field of banking.
She said she always feels at home in Sierra Leone where she started her higher education and believe that she must be part of the country’s development.
“Since I came to Sierra Leone to head Ecobank, I have been making important strides to improve on the banking systems by making sure that electronic banking becomes the order of the day, as well as providing more facilities to the customers as they use the bank to grow their business.”
She said even as a woman she has not been scared as she believes she has what it takes to lead and that is what she has been doing all along.
She thanked the President and his government for the award and said the award is going to be a motivational factor for her to deliver more in the future.
Many of the staff were very pleased that their MD was awarded by the President and they say they will continue to support her for Ecobank to be the number one bank not only in Sierra Leone but across the continent.
Head of Media at Ecobank Hannah Fullah said she was so gratified that her boss was awarded and said she is very happy for the award because it means people that are hard working and contributing to the development of the country will have more zeal to do more because their hard work will never go in vain.
“I want to also congratulate my friend Kelvin Lewis who was also awarded by the President because of his dedication and contribution to the media world. Kelvin has been a fine journalist and his six years at SLAJ has been very excellent, so when President Bio award him it was not a mistake but deliberate for working so hard to change the media landscape.
