The Premier League, sponsored by Africell and organised by SLFA which started last year, is expected to end this weekend with three matches to be played in Freetown tomorrow at the National Stadium.
Mighty Blackpool will battle with Central Parade in a match that is expected to be thrilling as both teams are fighting for better position in the league table.
On Sunday there will be two matches in two different venues at the same. In Freetown, Kallon FC will host Wusum Stars at the Football Academy at Kingtom while Old Edwardians and Ports Authority will battle each other.
The two matches are deciders to see who will clinch this year’s premier league. A win for Ports Authority will see them clinching this year’s premier league with 53 points out of 26 matches played.
Speaking to Awoko sports about the match the secretary general of Ports Authority, Idrissa Tawarally (Mago), said they were going to the match well focused and prepared to clinch this year’s trophy.
He mentioned that, “from the start to the end of the match we would go on the offensive looking for the much needed goals that will see our boys clinching this year’s trophy. We don’t need any result apart from a win to make us comfortable in winning this year’s league and represent Sierra Leone in next year’s international competition .”
Mago went further to state that he had respect for his opponents Old Edwardians who had very young players with talents.
In the other match, Kallon FC also are going for a win against their opponents Wusum Stars at the Football Academy at Kingtom. A win for Kallon FC and a draw for Ports Authority against Old Edwardians will see them winning the premier league for the second consecutive time with 52 points.
Kallon FC’s coach Abu Sankoh is still optimistic that they will still win this year’s league come Sunday.
The administrative secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Abubakarr Kabbah (Sweet Kay), disclosed to Awoko Sports that the two decisive matches would be played at the same time to avoid match fixing.
In the other league match played on Wednesday at the Football Academy Bo Rangers and Old Edwardians played to a one all draw
