The Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Bo district, has sent a letter of complaint to the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) about the series of alleged attacks on its membership by supporters of the All Peoples Congress (APC).
The complaint states that members of the APC have carried out despicable acts in the guise of action celebration which was heightened on the eve and on Ramadan day. The complaint states “it is relevant to note that the SLPP went in to the 2007 elections on the platform of consolidation of peace, democracy and national unity”
It further stressed that “ the country cannot afford to revert to another conflict as the 11 year war engendered by previous reckless governance”
The SLPP Bo district therefore called on the commission to take immediate steps to intervene so that these unwarranted acts against law abiding and peaceful members will stop forthwith as it states “violence breeds violence” The SLPP Bo district office also in a press release said the relatively smooth transition of governance from them to APC attests to the peaceful and democratic credentials of the party.
They therefore urged all other political parties especially the leadership and entire membership/allies of the ruling APC, “to leave no stones unturned in upholding and safeguarding the very solid democratic and peaceful foundation laid by the SLPP”
The release called on the security agencies, especially the Sierra Leone Police “to always live up to their constitutional responsibility of protecting life and property, by being more proactive in bringing to book all perpetrators of violence, thereby steming the tide of the recent ugly incidents”
