Alie Badara Tarawallie, the SLFA ex-officio popularly known as Bebeto, has said the Port Loko mini stadium with its single stand pavilion can host over 5,000 fans and has 24 guestrooms for players and officials including two dressing rooms. Including other unfinished facilities, he said there is free ground space for a football field, eight lane sports space, free land to construct another pavilion, land to construct volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, swimming pool, training field, car park, guestrooms, and entertainment centres.
He called on his colleagues and the SLFA President to see reason to make the Port Loko mini stadium “a place with the looks of a football academy”. Tarawallie is very optimistic that after the completion of the stadium, it would even host international and national competitions or matches. Mohamed Kamara of the Port Loko District FA thanked the SLFA leadership for showing commitment to football activities especially in the Northwest Region.
He appealed to them to fast track the dispute between the football stakeholders that is derailing the efforts of division one teams to participate in the Sierra Leone Premier League. Kamara said the Northwest’s participation and representation is highly needed, and called for qualification playoffs to continue before the start of the new season.
