In one fell swoop, the police in Kenema city rounded up 50 unlicensed motor bikes and vehicles. According to the operations officer, Mori Kamara, the rate of accidents involving motor bikes is so alarming that it has become a security concern to the police.
He explains that most of these unlicensed motor bikes are known for their hit and run tactics and police hardly track them down. “Most of them when involved in accidents will just remove their number plates and use fake ones,” he notes.  Mori Kamara states that scores of these bikes are smuggled into the country through the porous borders which the police are making efforts to overcome.
He discloses that any motor bike or vehicle that is apprehended and brought to the station will not leave until its papers are regularized.
