Scores of motorbikes are in police custody at the Kenema police division for various traffic offences.
Speaking to the press the acting district traffic officer, Segt.1442 Turay Mustapha, disclosed that the traffic unit of the Sierra Leone Police force in Kenema Division had recently launched an operation code named “zero tolerance on lawlessness on motor bike riders” in Kenema city and that the rationale behind the operation was to track down on motorcycles plying the streets of Kenema and it environs without proper registration certificates. Sgt. Turya Turay further said the operation was jointly done by the Sierra Leone police and the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA). He said the exercise would continue until the number of unregistered motorbikes within that city secure proper registration certificate.
