The Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Kailahun Police division Superintendent Mohamed Kamara has during the Police Partnership Board meeting held in Pendembu town recently disclosed that the Sierra Leone Police have assigned officers to Gombu Gao in the Luawa Chiefdom on the Sierra Leone /Liberia border to advert any possible security threat.
Superintendent Mohamed Kamara disclosed that since the deployment of the officers they have succeeded in adverting threats posed to ordinary Sierra Leoneans within the area by unknown assailants who prior to their deployment were pelting stones on the roofs of houses, raiding farms in the area and stealing livestock.
The LUC called on all in the Kailahun District to support the Police at all time by giving them prompt vital information adding that they cannot police the entire District. He appealed to the citizens of Kailahun District “especially their faithful children” to report any subversive activities or meetings within their communities for immediate Police intervention.
The Local Unit Commander revealed that the Police post that was established in Kangama town is in response to requests made by the Chiefdom authorities and commended the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in the eastern region Al-shek Kamara for his fatherly role towards improving security in the region and the country in particular.
He said the Chiefdom headquarter town of Kissi Teng Chiefdom in the Kailahun District can now boast of having a Police post which has contributed to maintenance of the fragile peace in the chiefdom and the country
