The local unit commander in Daru, S B Vandi, has challenged some People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) supporters to point out any instance of police bias in the community.
Speaking to our sources in Kailahun, LUC Vandi explained that recently some young men who claimed to be PMDC supporters in Daru threatened to burn down the police station, after accusing the police of bias in handling the affairs of the township.
He said such a threat would only help them strengthen the district’s security strategy rather than creating panic. LUC Vandi stated that the matter was under control as his personnel were ready to withstand any challenge from any quarter.
A senior citizen, who preferred not to be named, hoped that the July 28th elections would be violence-free, as “Kailahun District is notorious for election violence”.
