The suspended Financial Secretary of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), Sidkie Janneh has promised, “to mobilize the conviction of [his] people in Bo, Moyamba, Pujehun, Kailahun, Kenema and Bonthe to join the SLPP.”
In a press release signed by Janneh, he stated that the reason for making such move is to ensure what he called “the tragedy of an APC government… be averted.” Janneh wrote that “The PMDC has issued the so-called Press Release about suspending me simply because I have decided not to join the APC as instructed by the leader Charles F. Margai.”
He added “Charles F. Margai decided to throw his lot with the APC without any consultation with the party’s rank and file.”
Furthermore he went on as a foundation member of the PMDC and a member of the executive, “I am in a position to know this.”
The press release continued, “I want to assure the public that the vast majority of PMDC’s members share my position (and) in the coming days this will be publicly manifested as more regional and district executive members declare for the SLPP.”
He stated further “I am already in PMDC heartland offering the best of my efforts to avert the tragedy of an APC government.”
“Those PMDC executive members who are on Charles Margai’s leash will follow him and share in whatever the APC has offered,” the release states.
Janneh’s press release also maintained “I have been a man enough to declare that I am going to work with the SLPP” adding “I implore those who signed the so-called Press Release to go down to Bo, Bonthe, Moyamba, Kenema, Kailahun and Pujehun and declare that they are now with the APC.”
