Hundreds of residents in Kenema city on Thursday came out to welcome the regional chairman of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), Alhaji Benson Suwu.
Dressed in APC and PMDC party colours, the crowd converged at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School junction along Wahman Abu Road, while Alhaji Benson Suwu was received at the junction.
The supporters sang songs as they processed through Blama Road to the PMDC’s Dama Road office where he made a brief stop, then continued through Hangha Road, Maxwell Khobe Street, Nyandeyama Road, Label Street and then to his residence.
Addressing his supporters at his compound, he thanked them for their massive support before, during and after the elections.
He said Sierra Leone belonged to all tribes and that every body had the right to belong to whatever party of his or her choice without any intimidation and harassment.
Chief Benson Suwu explained that Kenema city belonged to two families, “the Ngombulango and the Kahunla families to which I belong”.
He appealed to his supporters to remain calm and not to offend anybody either by words or actions.
Chief Suwu stressed that, “most of the people who are inciting others to create problem in Kenema do not have any valuable property in Kenema”. He appealed to his supporters to prove to the world that, “the APC party is not known for violence as it is alleged; you should remain calm and celebrate the victory without any problem”.
