The Premier League Board (PLB) Executive Secretary has responded to the match fixing allegation between FC Kallon and East End Lions in the on going Premier League which was played on April 14.
The letter stated that in response to the concerns made by your respective clubs over an unconfirmed and unsubstantiated allegation of match fixing in respect of Lions and FC Kallon match, I wish to state that the PLB cannot be called upon to investigate an alleged case of match fixing made during a Radio discussion, more so by an official of one of the clubs involved i.e the PRO of East End Lions FC.
The PLB will not only be called upon to investigate any issue of fraud committed by any Sierra Leone Premier League (SPL) Club where physical and credible evidence is available to warrant further investigation.
The letter further stated that the Management of FC Kallon would have best acted on the issue through their club’s legal counsel, to get the said PRO of East End Lions, to substantiate his allegation
The PLB would only be playing into the hands of detractors and club fanatics if such allegations on radio or other public media are used as basis for action one way or the other any team that lost a match may opt to use the radio or other means to allege foul play by their opponents in order to discredit match officials and /or the SPL to gain points at all costs.
