On Thursday 7th November 2019 Plan international a nongovernmental organization in Sierra Leone launched the sponsorship alumni association in a bid to reconnect former sponsored children and gradutes to understand their pathways. The launching which was hosted at Bintumani in Freetown attracted both past and current beneficiaries of plan international. The organization believes that the Alumni would help former sponsored individuals of plan international programs to assess their area of interest and appetite to engage in Plan International’s girl rights movements. It was also stated in the organization’s press statement that this is also a way of tapping into the capabilities of Plan International’s alumni as potential supporters, activists, ambassadors to expand their reach and multiply their impact towards enabling 100 million girls to learn, lead, decide and thrive. Idrissa Kamara, one of the beneficiaries of plan international and chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Bank in Sierra Leone while making his statement said he would not have attained his current position if Plan International had not helped when he was a child. He called on the organization to form a club of past beneficiaries that would help mentor other children the organization is catering for at the moment. Idrisa further pledged that he will be taking care of a child and one community that the organization is operational.
