He was born with an abnormal ocular defect and would have gone blind if not for the timely intervention of Pikin Bizness explained Leonard Paul- Coker’s mother.
Leonard Paul- Coker’s was born with an extreme short sightedness; “at the age of 3 he was detected short sighted,” her mother Antoinette Paul-Coker explained.
She narrated, “I took him to Germany in 2002, where his eyes were examined and advised that he use glasses.”
Antoinette revealed that she was worried abut her child’s condition, “when I heard a radio programme about Pikin Bizness helping a child at Connaught, I decided to come over to sought help because he was supposed to get back to Germany to get his brain shocked and change his glasses, as part of a routine,” she explained.
She disclosed that the doctors have prior advised that every year Leonard has to get his brain shocked and changed his glasses.
Antoinette explained that Adonis Aboud did promised to help and indeed he lived up to his promise, “in August last year Leonard and I went to Germany where his brain was again shocked and it was discovered that his eyesight has gone up to minus 27, and it was also discovered that the two veins connected from the brain to his eyes are clogged and that there is no blood flowing in.
The doctor, she said, explained that “Leonard would not be able to go to school in Africa because he needs a special school with a special computer; we are now trying to see whether we can relocate him in Germany for treatment,” Antoinette said.
March next year, she disclosed, “is our next appointment in Germany, the doctors have called for a social worker in Berlin to see whether the Germany government would grant Leonard a stay permit in Germany.
Presently he disclosed Leonard is attending the Princely Preparatory and Nursery School in Freetown.
Though, he often complained that the classroom was dark, but nonetheless he has to cope with the existing situation until gets back to Germany in March next year.
Antoinette revealed that Leonard’s condition seemed to have improve, “he is no longer complaining the severe headache he often complained before; there is a lot of difference after the brain shocking in Germany,” she said.
