Paramount Chief Joseph Nabbieu Demby 1V of Baoma Chiefdom in the Bo District is reported to be “gravely ill” as only Chiefs can be, following a protracted illness.
The illness took a dramatic turn on Friday January 14th 2011 at Dr. Momodu Yilla’s Hospital in Bo where it is being described that the illness has “pressed” the Paramount Chief.
He was transferred from his home in Gerihun after several efforts in and outside Sierra Leone for medical assistance but all to no avail.
There was no specific cause reported for the dramatic state of affairs except that the Chief fell sick shortly after he was Crowned Paramount Chief in 2003 in a hotly contested electoral process which he won thus making him a leading Paramount Chief in the whole of Bo District next to late PC .Rashid Kamanda Bongay of Kakua Chiefdom. Arrangements for the Chief have not been made public.
However the family tomb at Gerihun in the Baoma Chiefdom is being considere in the light of developments
The “gravely ill” PC Joseph Nabbieu Demby was elected to the throne following the death of late PC A.S. Demby who was killed by soldiers belonging of the then infamous AFRC junta.
PC Joseph Demby is fondly seen as a young dynamic Paramount Chief who was poised to make meaningful developments to war torn Baoma Chiefdom.
Baoma Chiefdom is a Diamond Mining Chiefdom which has benefited immensely from the Government provided Development Mining Fund to the tune of between Le 80m – Le100m annually.
