The consultant Government Pathologist, Simeon Owizz Koroma attached to the Connaught Hospital while testifying in a preliminary investigation of an alleged murder of Lansana Conteh (deceased) who is brother to the accused Rebecca Conteh, said the cause of death of the deceased was not natural.
The Pathologist said the deceased died of acute hemorrhagic shock; that is excessive bleeding as a result of a stab to the chest, a ruptured left lung with blood and air in the cavity.
The accused was arraigned before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No. 2.
Pathologist Koroma reading his findings said the deceased was brought to him by Abu Bangura-uncle to the deceased.
The Investigating officer Detective Police Constable (DPC) 6504 Brewah S. and the crime scene Officer DPC 10620 Koroma M. both attached to the Kissy Police Station told the court that the autopsy was done before them.
The deceased and the accused lived in the same house at Thunder Hill and the incident is alleged to have taken place on July 7th 2012.
Also at the Freetown High Court No. 1 Monday, the case between Mohamed Pateh Bah and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for which is still having an injunction against the NDA came up for hearing before presiding judge, Justice Abdulai Cham.
Counsel for the Plaintiff (Pateh Bah) Lawyer Leon Jenkins Johnston applied for an adjournment on the grounds that the defence has filed an affidavit of opposition, which he was served on October 23. He therefore said that he needed time to study the document and respond to it by filing a document to the court and not just orally.
Defence Counsel Bu-Buakie Jabbie objected to an adjournment stating that there is nothing extra-ordinary for the Plaintiffs not to respond that day and that the matter is being delayed unnecessarily.
He said the matter needs to be resolved as early as possible, as it relates to the prospect of candidates of a certain political party.
The Plaintiff counsel said he is of the view that the matter needs speedy proceeding stating that the defence took almost 10 days to file his own affidavit in opposition and the prosecution had never wasted the court’s time.
He said this is his turn and the court must grant him the opportunity of a fair playing ground.
Justice Cham grant plaintiff lawyer his request and adjourned the matter to October 29th 12 noon for both counsel to complete their submission.
