The Peacock Farm Awareness and Development Organization (PADO) has organized an inter primary school HIV/AIDS and STIs sensitization quiz competition for primary schools in the Wellington community.
Six schools participated in the HIV/AIDS Awareness raising quiz competition that was held over the week end at the Olivet Baptist Primary school in Wellington. The schools include; Winners primary school, Kulafai Rashidin primary school, Redeem Mission primary school, Olivet Baptist primary school Koya town community primary school and Evangelical primary school. Two pupils from each school took part in the competition.
At the end of the fourth and final round of the competition, Koya town community primary school emerged winner with 27 points. Redeem Mission school came 2nd with 19 points followed by Kulafai Rashidin 3rd with 16 points, Winners primary school 4th with 14 points, the host, Olivet Baptist took 5th position with 13 points while Evangelical primary school maintained 6th position with 9 points.
The best quizzer was Jawad Sesay of Koya town community school with 14 points followed by Fatmata Kamara of the same school with 13 points. Prices were distributed to all twelve participants.
Addressing the pupils at the end of the competition the chairman of PADO, Mohamed .M. Kamara said PADO started organizing quiz competition for school children since 2005.He stated that PADO was formed in partnership with GOAL to meet the needs of members of the Wellington community. He added that the reason why they are targeting school pupils with HIV/AIDS messages is to create awareness of the pandemic in school pupils with the hope that these pupils will serve as ambassadors of HIV/AIDS messages in their homes and communities.
