Caroline Daniel is currently facing five counts of obtaining money by false pretense before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 at Pademba Road. According to the Sierra Leone Police on 3rd January 2019, at Wallace Johnson Street, the accused, Caroline Daniel, with intent to defraud obtained the sum of $2,800 USD from Foday Bakarr Fofanah with the intent of taking him to Turkey, which she failed to honour. She was charged with conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretense contrary to Section 31(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916, amongst the five count charges by the Police. On Wednesday 8th January 2020, both the accused and the complainants appeared before Magistrate Bonnie to proceed with the matter. During cross-examination, the complainant, Fofanah said he paid $2,000 USD to the accused and he was issued with a receipt in the process. He noted that the accused told him the whole program would cost $3,000 USD including his ticket to Turkey, adding that the first payment was done in a car. He was assured by the accused that the program itself is a genuine one. The accused, who is on bail, was represented by S.M. Conteh and Magistrate Bonnie had to adjourn the matter to 20th January 2020.
