The organizing secretary of the All People’s Congress (APC), Mohamed L Bangura in a brief chat with Awoko at his office in Freetown, said “I will challenge anybody who bribed for the party symbol to come forward”.
He added that nobody bribed for the party symbol, noting that it was just a lie and an intrigue to tarnish the reputation of prominent people in the ruling party.
Mr Bangura disclosed that before the awards of symbols started, the party’s secretary general Victor Bockarie Foh set up four committees in each region for the award of symbols.
He stated that the secretariat did not award symbols on bribery, favouritism and tribalism but based on recommendations they got from parliamentarians, constituency executives and district elders.
Asked why symbols were withdrawn from candidates, he said some of the candidates were members of opposition parties and once an opponent filed a petition against that person, the symbol would be withdrawn.
