The Managing Director (MD) of the National Petroleum (NP) company Mr Tunde Cole has in an exclusive interview with Awoko reiterated that they (NP) have a maintenance team in place which properly maintenances their pipes adding that “NP never has a problem when discharging fuel because all our pipes are intact.”
Mr Cole went further to explain that “whenever they (pipes) have any problems we replace them immediately and a complete line has only recently been changed.”
The MD was reacting to a story published Friday April 3rd on page four and paragraph six in Premier News titled “LUC Warns Fuel Thieves” in which the author attributed comments to LUC Sellu saying that “Their investigations discovered that NP lacks a proper maintenance team …”
Mr Cole said the writer “does not know about our maintenance team” he stated that they “should check their facts.
He maintained that “even our fire fighting equipment are serviced and up to date” pointing out that they (NP) “provided all the foam to extinguish the fire.”
The NP managing director explained that “the pipes in question belong to SAFECON and the problems have been reported to them – it is their responsibility.”
He added “it is unfortunate that it is within our facility and it creates a threat to our assets”
He offered that “if they want they can come and watch when we discharge fuel we don’t have any such problems.”
