A community based organisation, Our Girls Child Foundation with support from Global Fund for Children has presented four cartons of sanitary pads, three bundles of tissues and 150 face masks to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education in Kenema for teenage girls who are writing the BECE exam.
Zainab Sheriff, Program manager, Our Girls Child Foundation, said the donation is part of their move to complement government’s effort in promoting the Free Quality Education program, especially for girls, noting that the items are meant for three BECE examination centres in Kenema District. The Founder of Our Girls Child Foundation, Jalahan Amara Jakema, said the organisation is owned by the community, and is comprised of volunteers and focused on girls.

She called on all and sundry to, “come on board to support the young girls in our communities”. On behalf of the Deputy Director of Education, Kenema, the Supervisor of Schools in Kenema, Nabie Koroma, thanked the Founder and Chief Executive Director of Our Girls Child Foundation for the gesture, adding that the donation is important and timely.
