Chief Superintendent of Correctional Services, George R. Coker has said their aim is to qualify the male correctional services football team to the Sierra Leone Premier League. He said they have been up to the task since the club’s new executive came to power in June 2019 through an election process. The executive, he said, will administer and implement all seven sports disciplines over the next four years. He said since they took office, the very first task they embarked on was to herald a new era in the structural foundation of the correctional service sports club.
He revealed that a very crucial task that was missing during the previous administration is the requirement for all the disciplines to have a secretariat in order to be recognised and be officially located in terms of correspondences for all activities in and out of the institution. “The correctional service can boast of a secretariat at the male correctional reintegration centre dealing with all clerical work. Secondly, the body also hastens to identify the inadequacy of players as one big challenge. A universal gala was organised in order to spot responsible talent that will represent the institution for the division one league. It cuts across all sectors of football loving fans and players to grab a hold of the opportunities.”
He said the gala was played at the National Stadium practice field for one week and selection was done randomly by past professional Leone Star players, and media practitioners who witnessed the competition called it ‘Operation Select yourself’.
“The promotion to the Sierra Leone Premier League would be a ‘dream come true’ simply because all structures are placed right across every region.”
