An Operational Support Division (OSD) personnel, Sergeant 6142 Kaifala attached to Shankaders, has been implicated in the sale of Sierra Leone Police rifle no UB541/ A4 8005 to armed robbers.
This was disclosed by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of operations, Richard Moigbeh, at their weekly press briefing at police headquarters in Freetown.
He said the seven robbers were arrested in the early hours of Saturday March 31 and that they were now helping the police in their investigations.
AIG Moigbeh stated that a driver, Abass Kamara, discovered that one Mary Kamara had just returned from London and was having some amount of money so he connived with six armed robbers to rob her at her No 65 Taylor Street house at Wellington.
After the botched act, the police discovered that the rifle used in the operation was one of their own, and when an investigation was mounted it led to Sergeant 6142 Kaifala.
