Hundreds of Muslim in Kenema city joined the world over on Saturday 13th October 2007 to perform the Eid-ul-fitri prayer known as the Ramadan prayer.
At the Islamic Secondary school pray ground various speakers addressed the congregation before the prayers.
In his statement the section chief of Kakajama Chief Brima Kargbo thanked the Islamic mission for allowing their land to be use for public prayers.
He thanked all Sierra Leonean in the Eastern region who voted for
whatever party they voted for.
He said politic is now over and called on all and sundry to turn a new page for development.
He cautioned all to stop identifying each other of belonging to either PMDC, SLPP or APC saying all should be thinking as one body, in one country with one Sierra Leone for development.
Chief Kargbo called on every parent to reflect their memories on this year’s WASSCE examination result which he described as a disappointment to every parent in the district because a large number of the children
failed.
He said it is wrong for some parents to go with the idea that teachers should bring up their own children for them because the children spend five to six hours with the teacher and the rest of the day with the parent.
He cited instances like what happened during the elections between parents and children as both parties were on unlike poles with the parent not having control over their children.
He advised parents not to neglect their children, but cautioned them to take a bold step by encouraging them to go to school or learn a trade in the best way possible if they want them to be the future leaders of this nation.
Chief Kargbo appealed to the youth to deviate from violence, as it is the number one enemy of development.
