The drugs distribution is currently underway since Monday when the $7 million worth of drugs arrived at the Queen Elizabeth 11 Quay, in Freetown.
According to reports from the Ministry of Health and Health Coalition for all, most of the Districts headquarter Towns have received their consignment of drugs and have even started the internal distributions to the various health centers in the Districts
The Health Coalition for all leader Charles Mambu said they have been monitoring the distribution processes and due to transportation problems all the drugs would not arrive in their destination at the same time.
He also made it clear that most of the stores in the provinces that have been constructed are yet to finish and this has created lots of problems for storage facilities because the conditions under which they should be stored will definitely not be met in many of the stores.
According to reports from Bo, Kenema and Kambia, the drugs have arrived and they have started the distribution process.
The Ministry of Health has said every District will definitely receive their consignment before Tuesday and most of the towns and villages too.
The report stated that they are working assiduously round the clock to make the President’s dream come true on Tuesday 27th April, Sierra Leone’s 49th Independence Anniversary Day .
Some nurses in Freetown said they are prepared for the free health care as they know the number of patients visiting the hospital will increase and they will be working more than before.
