Old Edwardians Football Club came very strong in the ongoing Africell’s Sponsored Premier League on Wednesday when they thrashed Gem Stars 4-0 after drawing their last two matches.
The coach of Old Edwardians Amidu Koroma said he was not pleased with the result as he was expecting to win the match by a six goal margin to return the defeat they suffered in the hands of FC Kallon, but however he is happy as they have now secured 26 points.
Coach Koroma said that even though they defeat Gem Stars by 4 goals to nil, he still have respect for them as they are a young team, but they are going back to the first division to prepare themselves before coming back to the Premier League. He also stated that after losing there first three matches in the second phase of the league he made a promise that they are not go to lose any match until the end of the league the worst result they will get will be a draw.
Coach Koroma said that there next match is against Golden Dragons in Magburaka on Sunday and the match will be played in Makeni which is good for them as they will have the chance to win because it is a neutral ground.
During the match, Momoh Dumbuya scored a brace while Albert Kargbo and Thomas Tucker accounted for the other two to see Old Edwardians securing all the three points.
In the other that was played in the Military Field at Tekko Barracks in Makeni, Ports Authority after firing three of their technical staff they came very strong to defeat Golden Dragons by a lone goal scored by Donald Wellington in the second half of the match.
This particular win has brought some hope to the team to challenge for the trophy. They now have 36 points and in third position.
