Old Edwardians FC on Friday came very strong to beat Central Parade after defeating them by three goals to nil (3-0) in the on going premier league with all three goals coming in the second half of the match.
Usifu Bangura opened the scoring for Old Edwardians after converting a penalty and Magnus Campbell scored the other the two goals to put Old Edwardians into a better position in the league with 21 points from 18 matches.
After the match Old Edwardians coach Amdiu Koroma said he is happy because they were able to have a sweet revenge against Central Parade who they lost to in the first leg by two goals to nil (2-0)
He stated that after losing their first three matches in the second rounds the players came together and decided to put the financial constraints behind them and try to improve their league position and that are what they are doing now.
Amidu Koroma mentioned that with such determination he is sure they will be difficult to beat in the remaining matches.
He also mentioned that even though the team was going through financial constraint they were able to beef up the squad and thanked Kallon FC who loaned three players to the team free of charge.
He stated that these players also brought life to the team and appealed to the old boys of the school and supporters to come on board an assist the team as the team is full of talented players.
Also in Kono, Diamond Stars and Ports Authority played to a one all draw with Ports Authority taking the lead through John Wanger but they were unable to maintain the score line and conceded the equalizer during the dying minutes from the penalty spot.
Ports Authority is now in third position with 33 points. Mighty Blackpool and Bo Rangers match that was expected to play today in Bo according to a member of Blackpool media committee Bockarie Alieu said the match has been postponed
The league will continue on Wednesday with Old Edwardians hosting Wusum Stars at the National Stadium.
