A raging fire ball gutted down the top floor of the administrative building of the oil refinery at Kissy Dockyard over the weekend.About a month ago, thieves broke in to the refinery stealing fuel belonging to Elite Petroleum which led to intensive gun firing and subsequently landed twenty six in court.One of the security on guard at the refinery, Constable 10737 Kobba explained yesterday to Awoko what he knew of the incidence.He said since they were deployed at the refinery, there were constant fracas between two petroleum companies, Elite Petroleum and Majestic Oil Refinery owned by Ali Thorlu Bangura. The most recent was a theft matter was reported by Elite Petroleum against Majestic Company at the Kissy police station.He said that as a result of the report, they were deployed at the refinery to mainly secure the oil belonging to the Majestic Company.He disclosed that on Wednesday last week, some CID officers from the Major Incidence Section(MIST) together with some suspects that were held in connection with the oil theft, demanded that they wanted to get some documents from Mr Thorlu Bangura’s office who by then was helping the police in their investigations in connection with the theft.obba went on, “ since we got permission from the LUC Kissy police station, I escorted them together with the messenger who handles the keys of the administrative building. They took conveyances which we all saw in Thorlu Bangura”s and later left the building intact”He further narrated that on Friday “ this same group of people but this time headed by an ASP from MIST visited the company and told us they were there to investigate in respect of the theft. They went where the tank is and later we saw them heading for the administrative building together with the messenger who was the custodian of the keys. Some of the suspects whom we charged at Kissy Police Station, included the CSO, Mr Karim, Lebbie, Joseph, an ASP and others . Initially they took permission that they were heading for tank farm where the theft took place but later we saw them enter the administrative building while we were at the post”He went on, “ after an hour, we saw them come without the messenger who was seen some 30 minutes later.was not among them When he was leaving the gate he was communicating through his mobile phone. When they had left,, we saw fire a billow of smoke some half an hour later and fire emanating from the building. It was about 16.45hrs when I called the Fire Force and later the Operations Commander at Kissy, Marx Kanu explaining the circumstances”Constable Kobba said the main door of the administrative building was intact when fire engulfed the top building which is used by Thorlu Bangura and his staff.The Deputy Minister of Trade, the Director National Petroleum and the National Insurance Company visited the scene to examine the extent of the incidence. The Police is investigating the matter.
