The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nyawei Development Training and Production Centre has been held at the training center in Blama Small Bo chiefdom Kenema district.
Present at the meeting were religious leaders, town and section chiefs, chiefdom speaker Chief Mambu Moiwai, community based organization leaders and officials from the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports.
At the opening session the Chairman of the meeting who is also the Kenema District supervisor of schools James Fatorma welcomed all and sundry to the meeting and registered his concern over the educational institutions in the district.
He thanked the manager and staff of the Nyawei Development Training center for their good work in the past years, and encouraged them to continue.
He advised all especially parents to send their children to the center to learn skills so that they can be self-reliant and contribute to development not only for themselves but also for their communities and the country at large.
The overview of self-reliance was explained by the man in charge of Blama community health center Andrew Amos George.
Explaining about the purpose of the meeting the manager and proprietress of Nyawei Development Training and Production center Lucinda Katta disclosed that the center was established few years back to help promote the people of Small Bo in particular and Kenema district in general.
Madam Lucinda Katta said Nyawei center is not for her alone but for the entire people of Small Bo chiefdom and the nation as a whole, saying that she has planned to regain the lost glory of Blama.
She said that these are mini industries that any country can boast of, and assured the people about her commitment to put Blama on a sound footing.
Meaningful contributions were made by the officer in charge of World Food Programme (WFP), Madam Musu Koroma who is the district organizer home economics, and Inspector Vanna of the Blama police station.
