Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The President of the National Union of Sierra Leone Students (NUSS), Mohamed Rex Bonapha, held a crucial meeting yesterday with the leadership of the National Youth Service (NYS), emphasizing the importance of ensuring equal opportunities and welfare for students entering the National Youth Service.
President Bonapha stated that the meeting aimed to establish a fair platform, ensuring that all students, including those with disabilities, have an equal chance to participate in NYS training programs. Stressing the need for a robust system, he highlighted the significance of sensitizing students to enhance their active involvement.
In promoting the benefits of joining the National Youth Service cohorts, President Bonapha emphasized the potential for well-paid jobs that contribute to sustainable livelihoods. He mentioned, “30% of NYS graduates every year are provided with an internship opportunity at different Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.”
Concluding his remarks, President Bonapha urged the leadership of NYS to extend opportunities to graduates from all universities, colleges, and polytechnics across the country. In response to this appeal, both the leadership of NYS and NUSS have agreed to conduct a campus tour for the 7th batch.
