The acting National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Sidi Yaya Tunis said the National Reformation Movement (NRM) miscalculated and underestimate the party by going to court to stop the delegates conference. He made this statement during an interview with Awoko after the press conference when he said NRM thought that when the injunction was passed the party members would simply leave Port Loko and that would have been the end of the matter. “They underestimated us as we turned the delegates conference into a press conference thereby addressing pertinent issues of the party and got the membership to understand that the party belongs to all of us and what has happened was reason for us to unite and move forward.” The acting Publicity Secretary said he was so happy that for the members who showed so much resilience and determination to keep the Chairman and Leader and said it is very clear that contrary to views around that Ernest Koroma should go has been kicked out and he has been endorsed by the members for him to continue to provide leadership until the next elective congress. Sidi Tunis averred that now it is very clear that the NAC will have to chose the date for an elective congress and they are hoping it will be by end of this year so that the flag bearer and team will have ample time to campaign across the country so that they can remove SLPP from power as they have caused so much pain and suffering on ordinary Sierra Leoneans.

When asked what actions the party will take on NRM, the acting National Publicity Secretary said first they must try and overturn the injunction then they will see the steps the NRM would want to take. “If they continue to push for more problems, I think it will not be good for them as the more they push the more members will get angry but if they try to reconcile I am sure there will be an amicable settlement. We are all members of the party, what they started was a good venture and I am sure every member of the party embraced their ideology and wanted it to work, but we never envisage that they would resort to court action that would cause embarrassment to us all.” Sidi said the party has proved to all that they have the capacity to go into any battle and anyone they take they will win, because the APC today is very strong with lots of educated and passionate members that believe in the party’s ideology. He said the executive of the party appreciate and thank all the members of the party and Journalists that participated in the press conference; He also thanked the diplomatic missions that were present and said the party is law abiding that was why they adhered to the court order. He said all the rumours going around before the conference in Port Loko that they will burn the house of Alpha Khan as well as destroying the statue of President Bio proved to be false as the APC members went for a conference and they never had any other motive. “We went to Port Loko and left in peace. All those who had bad plans for the party were left disappointed because nothing negative took place. The press conference is over and we are still united and all the advice given to us by the leader of the party will be taken seriously and put into action for the good of the party and the country.”
