The National Revenue Authority has received sophisticated drug detecting equipment form the German Government through GTZ after a three day training on drug suppression at Kimbima hotel.
Receiving the equipment, the Principal Economist and Adviser to the Commissioner- General Mr. Sulaiman Idriss Bangura thanked the German government for their frantic effort in making the training successful. He encouraged members to utilize knowledge gained from the training to efficiently combat drug use and drug trafficking. He maintained that the global drug suppression campaign involves a joint partnership of members from experienced countries who are holistically aimed at curbing drug related issues. He felicitated the trainees for their experience shared to the trainers on locally produced drugs such as cannabis. He further stated that the items will be adequately distributed to different departments and agencies, especially at border posts, custom departments and airport.
In a statement before the certification ceremony, the head of the German training training team Karl Friedrich Roland mentioned that the training was a positive one considering the meaning turn-out of participants.
He said that the set of equipment are purposely meant for detecting harmful drugs and drug addicts. The tools donated include drug inspection mirror, cocaine test, test for cannabis and amphetamine test and CD programming indicating various drug formation and logos. He urged trainees to be vigilant in the process of executing their knowledge to facilitate the enhancement of a crime- free society.
