The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has donated two motor bikes to the Kailahun District Council for border-monitoring.
Donating the bikes at the Kailahun district council office, the NRA commissioner, John Karimu said the bikes were to be used to help reduce smuggling in the district through a collaborative effort with his Authority.
Mr. Karimu cautioned council officials not to act as police officers or custom officials but observe and report to the NRA.
He said the task of tracking down smugglers was the work of only NRA officials.
Receiving the bikes, the chairman of the Kailahun district council, Augustine Kortu thanked NRA for involving the people in revenue mobilization. He expressed their commitment to cooperate positively with the Authority in dealing with smuggling.
Similar presentations have also been made in Kambia, Koinadugu and Bombali districts in the north of the country.
