The new Commissioner-General (CG) of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), Allieu Sesay, and entourage from the NRA had met with taxpayers at the City Hall, Station Road, in Makeni
The CG told the taxpayers that there had been incessant questions raised about what government was doing with taxes collected.
He said it was only when taxpayers pay their taxes would they have the “moral authority to make continual demands on government for public services”.
Allieu Sesay stated that the proceeds from taxation at present “is not enough to meet the many needs of the populace,” and said the NRA was now engaged in an “aggressive tax drive”.
The CG however used the opportunity of the meeting to send a message to his “colleagues in government to inform the people what government is doing with tax money being collected”.
