NPC President attends ISSF’s Extra Ordinary General Assembly

Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The National Paralympics Committee (NPC) President Unisa Deen Kargbo who also doubles as the Treasurer of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC-SLE), is attending the Extra Ordinary General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) in Jeddah on the invitation of the King of Saudi Arabia.

 

According to the National Paralympics Committee (NPC) President, in the assembly, they will approve a new strategic plan to make ISSF more responsible and supportive to its members. “When approved the NOCs will be directly involved in ISSF programs,” he said.

The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) is the supreme authority governing the Islamic Solidarity Games It is an international, non-profit, non -governmental organization based in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. Its mission is to increase cooperation between Islamic countries through sports. Currently, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin  Abdulaziz Al Saud bin from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is ISSF President since 8 April 2019.

The 5th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games was held in Turkey in 2021, but due to the spread and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic it was postponed 2022 and it ended successfully in Konya.

20 years after the first edition of the ISG, the athletes of the member countries of the OIC will come to Africa to participate in the 6th edition in Cameroon. On the 15th of April 2021, the Sports Federation of Islamic Solidarity (ISSF) announced that its 2025 Games will take place in Cameroon. BT/17/3/2023
