Eighty-three pensioners who showed up at the ministry of energy and power at Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown received their pensions yesterday.
Addressing them the minister of that ministry, Haja Afsatu Kabba, welcomed and thanked them for their patience and endurance they had shown.
She told them that, “this government has respect and dignity for the people of this country”, adding that pensioners had once worked tremendously for this country.
The minister stated that the payment was an emergency one but that she did everything possible to see that the pensioners received their pensions. On their part Amadu Samura, chairman of the pensioners, thanked the minister and her team for the concern shown towards them.
