The Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone Joseph Nyande has disclosed to sporting associations under the Committee that some amendments need to be made to the NOC Constitution.
He explained that he was avoiding any problem that might arise during the NOC congress as what occurred during the last elective congress in January “we don’t want such a thing to happen again that is why we need to make such amendments”.
He further stated that the associations that have not been recognized by the National Olympic Committee should apply to NOC wherein they would be summoned to congress for ratification.
The NOC Scribe also mentioned that recognition shall be made by the executive Council before it is ratified in a non-elective Congress as no association shall be recognized in an elective Congress. “This will help to alleviate the problem of who is to vote or not to vote in an elective Congress. After this, the documents shall be copied to the Director of Sports, IOC, and the Minister of Sports so that some members shall not bring NOC into disrepute”.
He also revealed that since they appointed the two Public Relations Officers, they have performed remarkably well in the dissemination of information through both the print and the electronic media.
