The National Olympic Committee Executive has briefed the new Minister of Youth Employment and Sports Paul Kamara about their operation during their courtesy call at his Bishop House office at the National Stadium.
The NOC president Henry G Moore said that they are very happy for the appointment he also stated that NOC has been working hand in hand with the National Sports Council (NSC) for the development of Sports in the country. He said that NOC has 17 sporting disciplines that are recognized by the Olympic Solidarity.
He said that NOC in Collaboration with Olympic Solidarity organize two coaching course every year for two different sporting disciplines in the country and one coach from the sporting discipline benefited from international training outside Sierra Leone.
President Moore stated that last year was a different situation as they were able to have four training programmes for four sporting disciplines.
He also went further to brief the minister about the Africa Olympic Programme that will be constructed at Goderich that will have different sporting facilities and the programme have been divided into two phases with the first phase coming to an end by June this year.
YES Minister Paul Kamara in his own remarks said he is very pleased to welcome the NOC executive and thanked them for the good work they have been doing over the years for the development of sports in the country and assured them of government’s support at all times.
