The National Olympic Committee (NOC) in a bid to develop sports in the country has donated sporting equipments to the Barina Secondary School, Makali, in the Tonkolili District.
The equipments donated were: six (6) Footballs; four (4) Volleyballs; one (1) Volleyball net; twenty-four (24) Table Tennis balls; two (2) Basketballs; one (1) Handball net; seven (7) Basketball Rims and eight (8) Basketballs.
The Councilor for ward 221, Rugiatu Koroma of Barina Chiefdom received the equipments on behalf of the school and stated that the equipments were very important to the school since young people are engaged in sports.
She disclosed that most often, those in the rural areas found it very difficult to have access to equipments donated to Schools; but however hoped that this would be different. She mentioned that sporting activities in the Chiefdom is growing from strength to strength but should not be compared to the big towns in the country.
She appealed to the students to make good use of the equipments and promised them that if they do well in sporting activities they would be expected to have more in the future.
