The Executive of the Sports Writers’ Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL), has in a press release informed its membership and the general public at large that the association will not do any live commentary on the Sierra Leone vs. Sao Tome 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifying Match which would be played today, Wednesday 29th February 2012 in Sao Tome & Principe.
According to the press release, the association undertook live commentaries of Leone Stars’ 2012 qualifying matches, sponsored by Mercury International (SL) Ltd, the association’s major sponsor.
This time around the SWASAL release noted, a letter of intent to do live commentary of the said match, accompanied by a comprehensive budget, was sent to Mercury International two weeks from the day of the match, but that the betting company has still not responded to the intention and financial request of the association.
The Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) has therefore expressed regret for any inconvenience(s) this may cause to football loving fans of Sierra Leone majority of whom depend greatly on SWASAL’s commentary of Leone Stars’ away exploits.
