The Public Relations Officer of the National Cricket Association, Bockarie Allieu has declared that the 21-day notice issued by stakeholders for the association to hold an elective congress will not hold as demanded because it falls short of the mandate given to the Executive by the International Credit Council (ICC).
Allieu said the ICC mandate states inter alia that each national association should have two governing bodies, the executive members headed by the CEO and the board members headed by the chairman. He said going by that mandate they should be able to amend the old constitution.
The Cricket PRO disclosed that the executive has held a consultative meeting with the stakeholders and they have agreed to review the constitution before the elective congress and in the process should ensure legal consideration of the draft constitution.
Bockarie Allieu reaffirmed that the executive is not against the holding of an elective congress, but until things are done in the proper order.
Allieu assured the stakeholders that as soon as they fulfill the ICC mandate they will call for an elective congress when a new executive and board would be put in place to run the association for the next four years.
