A five days peace-training workshop organized by the Network Movement for Justice and Development (NMJD) has started in Kenema. NMJD project animator Jestina Kallon says the training aims at equipping the school youths with knowledge in conflict transformation as well as peace promotion, as a way of contribution to world peace and nation building. She said NMJD has been engaged in series of peace building activities especially in raising the awareness of young people on conflict resolution in schools and communities in the Kenema district. Mrs. Kallon disclosed that Nasir Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School, Holy Trinity Secondary School and Islamic Secondary Schools are the three institutions targeted at the moment for the project, but promised to extend the project to other schools. She however expressed optimism that at the end of the course participants should be able to understand the dynamics of conflict as well as develop skills to effectively handle emerging conflicts and promote peace in their respective schools and their communities.
