Njala University has on Wednesday 25th November 2020 played host to a curriculum review workshop courtesy of the Assuring Quality in Higher Education Project under the Strategic Partnership for Higher Education Innovation and Reform. The three-day workshop will brainstorm and effectively contribute to the development of a functional curriculum for the agriculture general bachelor’s degree for possible roll-out next academic year.
The review process which started yesterday is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID). The workshop saw participants from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, private sector players in the agriculture sector, and staff members of the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences, Njala University.
Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Njala Campus, Professor Alieu Mohamed Bah who also doubles as the Dean of the School of Agriculture and Food Science, encouraged external stakeholders participating in the workshop to effectively contribute to the development of a functional curriculum at the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences.
He referred to the development of a functional curriculum as critical to the continuous training of students for the job market, and emphasised that Njala University has been producing technical and extension workers over the years and hence it is critical that a curriculum is developed to meet these demands.
The Assuring Quality in Higher Education is a three-year project anchored in seven higher education institutions in Sierra Leone under the Strategic Partnership for Higher Education Innovation and Reform.
